For this $7,065,000 project, Pace, a Louisville Paving and Construction subsidiary, constructed the new Sodium Hypochlorite Facility at the B.E. Payne Water Treatment Plant in 2014. Louisville Water Company sought to join other water facilities in eliminating the use of chlorine gas in the treatment of water and wastewater. Notably, chlorine gas is highly explosive and dangerous when exposed to the atmosphere. Pace self-performed the site work, concrete work, mechanical piping, and process equipment installation, completing the project both on-time and well within the Louisville Water Company budget.
