Oldham Co. I-71 Resurfacing Project

Summary

This project was a 1.5” resurfacing project with 3” base replacement on the I-71 in Oldham County, KY. The asphalt base paving operations were scheduled during the night to minimize the impact on the driving public. The surface paving was done with weekend closures to allow lanes to be paved continuously throughout the project, eliminating any transverse joints in the pavement. The entry and exit ramps from I-71 were closed over weekends to allow the ramps to be resurfaced. This roadway was constructed with a durable pavement safety edge at the optimum 30 degree. This increases the safety and durability of pavement as outlined by the FHWA. The project also consisted of full removal and replacement of all guardrail and new DGA shoulders.

Result

Specials thanks to our Paving crews, Bluegrass Testing and Plant personnel as these results and awards would not be possible without their dedication to providing exceptional asphalt pavements for our communities.”
